The firm was originally established in 1991 as Martinez & Associates Law Office by the late Eugene J. Martinez, a highly respected trial attorney. A graduate of UC Berkeley and Stanford Law School, Eugene served as a Deputy District Attorney and later an Assistant District Attorney, where he supervised felony prosecutions and helped establish a criminal sexual assault unit. As a State Bar Certified Criminal Law Specialist, he tried hundreds of jury trials and became known for his zealous, ethical, and effective defense in cases ranging from DUI and assault to homicide, embezzlement, and sexual offenses.

After Eugene’s passing in 2020, his son, Mario J. Martinez, took over the practice, transitioning the name to the Law Office of Mario J. Martinez while carrying forward the same commitment to excellence and advocacy. Mario holds a J.D. from Monterey College of Law and a B.A. in Music Industry from California State University, Chico. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mario worked closely with his father for years, assisting with legal research and motion drafting, and learning firsthand the values that built the firm’s reputation. Mario continues that legacy today with integrity, professionalism, and a zealous commitment to protecting his clients’ rights. He serves both new clients and many who previously worked with his father—ensuring trusted legal representation across generations.
